Runways tab
Open an airport and choose the Runways tab to see the wind components for each runway end, based on the latest METAR. The reported wind is at the top, then a card for each runway end. Helipads aren't listed.

Reading a runway card
- Runway heading — the runway number, then its magnetic heading in parentheses. An asterisk (*) means the magnetic heading isn't available.
- A runway drawing with an arrow showing the wind relative to the runway: green for a headwind, red for a tailwind.
- Green arrow — headwind component in knots. A red arrow means a tailwind.
- Blue arrow — crosswind component in knots, pointing to show which side it comes from.
- RVR on the left: touchdown (TD), midpoint (M), and rollout (RO), where the airport reports it. Values are colored red below 1,800 ft, orange below 2,400 ft, and green above.
How the components are calculated
- Gusts: when gusts are reported, the components use the gust speed.
- Reference: Components use the METAR wind (true) against the runway's true heading. ATIS winds are magnetic. Because both are true, the components are correct at any airport, whatever the local magnetic variation.
- Not shown: components are hidden when the wind is calm or variable, or when no heading is on file for that runway.
Check the numbers. Runway data comes from public airport databases and can be out of date. Compare with the current ATIS, your charts, and your aircraft's limits.
Crosswind Calculator from a runway
- Tap a runway card to open the Crosswind Calculator with that runway and the current wind already filled in.
- Adjust the runway heading, wind direction, and wind speed to try other conditions.
When opened from a runway card, the calculator shows magnetic values so they match ATIS and the runway number, and the runway drawing shows the real runway designator (for example 16L). Its wind direction will differ from the METAR by the local magnetic variation, but the components are the same. If you move the runway heading dial, the drawing switches to a runway number worked out from the heading.
