Airport weather (Wx tab)

Tap any airport square to open its weather. The Wx tab opens first. The top line shows the ICAO code in its flight category color, a map button that opens the airport in Apple Maps, and the current UTC time. Below that are the airport name, city, local time and UTC offset, and field elevation.

METAR

METAR VFR12 min ago
MWCR 161551Z 23012KT 10SM FEW045 28/22 A2992

The header shows the flight category and how long ago the report was issued. Press and hold the raw METAR to copy it.

Tap Decode to see it in plain language:

Density altitude

Tap the density altitude row to see how it was worked out: pressure altitude from field elevation and the altimeter setting, the standard (ISA) temperature, and the correction for the actual temperature. If no temperature is reported, it shows pressure altitude only. The row isn't shown when the weather feed has no elevation for the station.

It's an approximation. Use your aircraft's POH/AFM for performance.

TAF

When the airport issues a TAF, it appears below the METAR. Each forecast period has a colored bar for its flight category. Tap the TAF title to show or hide the raw text. Press and hold the raw TAF to copy it.

Tap Decode for each period's time, wind, visibility, weather, clouds (AGL), and any wind shear. Times use the airport's time zone unless you turn off Use Airport Time Zone in TAF in Settings. If there's no TAF, the section says “TAF not available”.

Outlook (Apple Weather)

At the bottom are a 24 Hour Outlook (temperature, chance of precipitation, and visibility on one chart) and a 10 Day Forecast from Apple Weather for the airport's location. Tap the chart for an explanation of each line.

This outlook is a general forecast, not an aviation forecast. Use the TAF and official sources for flight decisions.

Airport menu (⋯)

The ⋯ menu on an airport lets you Favorite it, Add To MyTrip or Remove From MyTrip, open Settings or the calculators, or Delete Airport.

Pull down to refresh the METAR and TAF.
